My opportunity search is going reasonably well. I have had about 6 agencies submit me to about 10 openings. Half of those agencies I had not worked with previously and had to go interview with them to prove that I can dress myself correctly etc. All of them were pleased with the new resume. One just couldn't stop saying "wow".

Two of the agencies asked for info on where I had it done and I gave them the pertinent details. I believe they were interested in using your services for some of their clients vs having someone in house or local, especially after seeing the spectacular job you did on mine.

Of the 10 openings they submitted my resume to, I have had one two-hour interview (managers in a different city) and three company site interviews. I believe I have a good chance of receiving an offer from the last one I did of these on Friday.

In addition to the agencies, I have researched approximately 40 companies that looked interesting and submitted my resume directly to them via email (75%) and fax (25%). For handful that were especially interesting, I spent some extra effort on company research and customized the blind-submittal letter to target them and also found operations managers email addresses. Bypassed the HR department and careers@/jobs@ generic buckets. None of these direct contacts had a relevant position advertised on their website or any of the job boards . . . Of all of these, one of them has responded favorably and has given me two rounds of interviews thus far. They are in the process of drafting a contract offer, which I hope to see soon. This was a company that didn't even know they were in need of someone like me before my resume/letter came floating into their view. :-)

Just dropping you a quick note to let you know that I have received the first contract draft for my new position. It will be a one year contract at a leading Canadian fixed-wireless internet service provider. Decent rate, decent people, interesting work all await me next week.
