Michelle Dumas Selected as Recipient of the 2021 Industry Hero Award

Michelle Dumas, founder and CEO of Distinctive Career Services LLC (https://www.distinctiveweb.com), a career marketing, personal branding, and professional resume writing firm celebrating its 25-year anniversary in 2021, was honored as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Industry Hero Award at the National Resume Writers’ Association’s 2021 annual conference.

The NRWA is a nonprofit trade association dedicated to the support of professional resume writers. The Association created the annual Industry Hero Award in 2015 to recognize leading-edge members passionate about the growth and advancement of the profession. According to the NRWA’s website, past winners have introduced leading-edge tools and courses, promoted excellence, and raised industry standards.

The annual Industry Hero Award winner is nominated by her peers and chosen by the NRWA’s executive committee. In part, Michelle Dumas was selected as the 2021 Industry Hero because she “not only exemplifies the mission of the NRWA – to increase the visibility of the industry, encourage ethical practices, promote writing excellence, and raise industry standards through peer marketing and training – but she continually raises the bar for everyone to reach across our industry… Michelle has been a leader in the industry for decades… she has persevered through the ups and downs of the industry, continually keeping pace with the many changes in technology, transforming and expanding her own business, and producing new products and services that not only assist her clients but have helped other business owners enhance their operations and services.”

Michelle has been an active member of The NRWA since shortly after its inception in 1997. She has served in numerous volunteer leadership roles, including serving as NRWA’s president in 2017, founding and chairing NRWA’s Public Image Committee, spearheading the launch of the Association’s first public-facing website and Ask the Experts initiative, providing insight and direction on industry best practices as a member of the NCRW Commission Advisory Board, and currently providing strategic support and historical perspective to the NRWA Board as a member of the flagship NRWA Advisory Board. In 2018, Michelle was the recipient of NRWA’s Vivian Belen Award honoring those who have given selflessly to the organization.

The winner of multiple national awards for her resume writing and design, and as an author of and contributor to dozens of books on resume writing and job search, Michelle has also been a popular speaker and presenter at NRWA conferences and webinars on topics related to resume design, ATS standards, and resume writing.
