Graduate Student Resume Project Brief

Writing a graduate student resume can be challenging; often because of lack of material to put in the resume. It isn’t common for a student to go to the job market with a two-page resume. Even more uncommon is a three-page one like this example graduate student resume.

But, this example student resume illustrates an important point. If the information you want to include in your resume is on-target, highly relevant to the employers you are reaching out to, compelling, and easy to read, don’t feel the need to cut content simply for the sake of space.

Even though this student resume is three pages, it meets all these criteria and was highly effective in generating both interviews and job offers for this new graduate. In fact, within a couple of months this client had multiple appealing job offers to choose from.

But what if the opposite is true? Do you worry that you may not have enough material for your student resume? Consider including the relevant coursework you have taken while working on your degree (this is a great way to make sure your student resume is filled with the most important keywords for your profession). You may also include relevant and impressive class projects, internships and work study, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work. Just be sure that everything you include in your resume is relevant to and ties back to the type of work you are targeting with your new resume. Do not just include content as a filler.
