Sample Student Resume for a New Graduate

Writing a student resume can be challenging; often because of lack of material to put in the resume. It isn’t common for a student to go to the job market with a two-page resume. Even more uncommon is a three-page one like this example student resume.

But, this example student resume illustrates an important point. If the information you want to include in your resume is on-target, highly relevant to the employers you are reaching out to, compelling, and easy to read, don’t feel the need to cut content simply for the sake of space.

Even though this student resume is three pages, it meets all these criteria and was highly effective in generating both interviews and job offers for this new graduate. In fact, within a couple of months this client had multiple appealing job offers to choose from.

More Tips for Writing Your Student Resume

Do you worry that you may not have enough material for your student resume? Consider including the relevant coursework you have taken while working on your degree (this is a great way to make sure your student resume is filled with the most important keywords for your profession). You may also include relevant and impressive class projects, internships and work study, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work. Just be sure that everything you include is relevant to and ties back to the type of work you are targeting with your new resume.

Thought you'd like to know that I've just accepted a new position and am happy as can be. You should know that I began my search in earnest in the beginning of November and my success rate in getting calls from the companies whose postings (Monster and HeadHunter) I responded to was nothing short of phenomenal. Thanks a million Michelle for getting me noticed.

Thank you for the new resume and cover letter. The resume is the best resume I have read! That includes all the candidates I have interviewed over the past ten years...I am impressed with your work. I was fortunate to find you on the Internet and pleased that I called you. You have enhanced my resume. It is like night and day. Thank you very much.

Last Monday I received a call from a low level recruiter that had read my old resume on the Institute of Packaging Engineers job site. She was looking for a candidate to fill a Packaging Engineer position that paid $60-$70,000 per year. I emailed her my new resume, the one you created, and immediately received a call from her boss. The boss was a much more savvy, high powered, recruiter. She had a much higher position in mind for me...The interview went very well. My second interview, this time with the CEO and the directors of the companies two current divisions is scheduled for this Wednesday...The position is for a Business Development Manager to start a new division. Once sales hit $4 million dollars the position will become the director of the division and expansion will begin in earnest. The salary for this position starts at $120,000 per year. I just can not thank you enough for the all the hard work you did to create such an outstanding resume and set of support letters. The recruiter received the recruiter letter and resume. The company received the resume and the thank you letter. Things are looking good to land the perfect job for my experience and aspirations.
