Executive Biography Samples

Purpose: Executive biographies are often asked for during executive job searches

Quick Tips for Writing an Executive Biography:

The above documents are sample executive biographies to be used both during and after your job search. The average job seeker can use a biographical sketch to help them complete online profiles such as those on LinkedIn and Facebook. Biographies are helpful to entrepreneurs seeking funding for a business plan. Executives may be asked for a biography instead of or in addition to a resume during the job search. Biographies are also often asked for when you speak at events or participate as a member of boards. Once you have been hired, you may be asked for a biography by the new employer, to be used in their marketing materials. Like resumes, biographies should be written to emphasize your personal brand and really showcase what is unique and special about you. Biographies are also the document in which it is acceptable to briefly mention personal information about hobbies or your family–items that you would not include in your resume.

I just want to let you know that this week I had four interviews and 3 job offers! One is with my mentor's company, XXXXX, another with XXXXX, and a third with XXXXX. The salary ranges are from $80-$100k. I'm deliberating now about my options, and will start "negotiations" this afternoon. Two job offers came on the same day (yesterday). Three of the interviews came from my on line responses to ads. The XXXX interview was arranged by my mentor who suggested I apply for a position. This all happened (the callbacks) between 1-3 days after I posted my resume. The VP at XXXXX who interviewed me said that he reads thousands of resumes, and that mine was really exceptional. He was talking about your work. Thank you!

(Received a few days later from the same client...)

I start August 4th as an assistant PM working first on a 1.5 billion (with a "b") dollar proposal, then off to the job site in September, working either on the XXXXXX renovation project or various cultural projects with musuems, libraries, etc. in XXXXX. Starting salary $90k with a review and increase to $95 by the end of the year. If I finish my PMP and LEED certifications, I will get an additional $3k for each certification.

I'm so happy that this happened so quickly and that it's such a great job! As I mentioned, the reason they called is because of the resume. They were also impressed by the biography, and apparently the interview went well too :) Thanks again for everything. I couldn't have done it without you.

Morning, Michelle, I have cc’d you on an e-mail to Nancy several minutes ago. I think that note pretty well sums up my response to your inquiry about how things are going! It has been a pleasure to work with you and your company. You’ve got a great thing going there. Very professional, accountable and so easy to work with.

The other email he refers to...

I really like the work you have done and I now understand how a pro like you can take a pretty good document to whole different level. Early on in my experience with your company, I was curious how my personal brand would come through. As my wife reviewed your work with me, she said ‘this is so YOU’. Mission accomplished! So, congratulations and thank you to you, Nancy, for a job well done. Please count me as a very satisfied customer and feel free to use me as a customer reference if the need should ever arise.

The resume is even better than I expected and I am certainly pleased with the outcome, especially since I do not believe that I would have been able produce this quality the first time out. This service has clearly pointed out the need for a professional resume writer to clearly articulate areas where I would have undersold myself.

You're awesome! Due to my new resume I actually see myself as qualified and marketable. Now let's see if I can put it into action. Thanks so much Michelle.
