Quick Resume Writing Tip: This example technical resume provides an example of how even a technical profession can be described in terms of the results or benefits that it produces for a company. Many times people who work in technical professions make the mistake of writing a resume that describes their responsibilities and past experiences. Even worse, these resumes are usually so full of technical detail that they put the reader to sleep. By writing your resume to showcase your accomplishments and contributions, you stand out. Think about the ways your work has helped employers save money, make money, improve efficiency, or solve a problem. Showcase these accomplishments in your resume, always using numbers whenever possible, to give your claims more credibility. Numbers can be whole numbers, percentages or dollar figures. Improvements in technology can often be expressed in terms of efficiency gained and cost savings, but don’t overlook IT infrastructure that enable business growth, a larger customer base, or increased revenue.

I wanted to get back with you and let you know that on Friday, I accepted a job for which I am very excited. I will start December 2, 2002 as the Vice President, Sales and Marketing for a company called XXXXXXX. They provide full service packages for XXXXXXXXX. I will also be the business unit manager for a new business they will launch in the coming months. Their services are based on providing the very best and comprehensive service at very competitive prices. It is a great opportunity to leverage my last 10 years in college and university relations and youth marketing. It is also located right here in XXXXX, about four miles from my house! There will be some international travel (very exciting) but there won't be the heavy domestic travel that I've had for the last 7+ years. And so I am now embarking on my first extended vacation since college. This feels like such a luxury. I want to sincerely thank you for all of your help through this process. The resume that you created was absolutely critical in my landing this position. I had more than a half a dozen interviews within weeks of circulating my resume, was a finalist for three positions and was offered two positions. The one that I accepted is without a doubt the best fit. I am truly thankful and feel very blessed to have had my search turn out this way. I hope all is well with you and I will continue to recommend your services very highly.
